So the story is that certain people in the Democratic Party are pressuring Kendrick Meek to step down and get his supporters to vote for Charlie Crist. Their goal is to stop Marco Rubio by convincing Kendrick to take one for the party and get Independent Charlie Crist elected in the hope that he will caucus with the Democrats A.K.A. Lieberman South. Now keep in mind that one of the MAIN reasons we didn't get "change we can believe in" was because the Blue Dogs who represent Republican ideals combined with the likes of Lieberman to dilute or scuttle any legislation that brought meaningful change, helped working people and rescued the middle class.
Yes, the enemy within did MORE damage to the "change" agenda than any Republican could ever do. Most of the "change" legislation was compromised by either extreme dilution or delay, as an example, most of the highly diluted Healthcare Bill's provisions kick in after 2014. That gave the Republicans/Tea Partiers ample time to circulate scare stories about the bill. The final Healthcare Bill was anemic compared to it's first iterations, but even so, if it went into FULL effect immediately, voters would see the total scope of it's benefits and no one would dare call it Obamacare! As of this writing, there are denials all around, it seems like everyone in the Democratic Party is saying that no one is pressuring Kendrick to end his campaign. Ah, do we have another great conspiracy on our hands? Who cares? Rather than play the game of he said, she said about the Clinton/Meek stories, let's get into something that I actually saw with my own two eyes. There are a few people who seem to live on Twitter in the virtual world, but reside outside of Florida in the physical world that have been trying to get Florida Democrats to vote against Kendrick Meek, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate and for Independent candidate Charlie Crist. They like to raise the specter of Tea Party/Republican candidate Marco Rubio winning the election if Florida's Democratic voters vote for Kendrick the Democratic candidate, because the current surveys are showing the he has low numbers. These out of state social engineers would prefer to have Florida's Democrats vote AGAINST Kendrick, who supported working people/middle class issues throughout his political career and FOR Charlie Crist, a former Republican who is running as an independent because Meek's votes combined with Crist's votes may let Crist just squeak by and beat Rubio. The thing that irks me about these people is that they have consistently rationalized every give back and compromise that hindered any kind of substantive change throughout the President's year and three quarters or so in office. If you were disappointed with the final iteration of the Healthcare bill, they would tell you to "stop whining", likewise if you griped that Unions were being ignored or in some cases insulted by the Administration. Do you see a pattern here? Just go back and re-read the second paragraph of this article. These Twitter people are the apologists for the aforementioned lack of change, the cheerleaders for mediocrity, the fear mongers that use the Tea Party threat to control how you vote. If you are a Florida Democratic voter, just ignore those people who can't vote in a Florida election because they are not Floridians and do the right thing, vote a straight Democratic ticket!

Trust me, you don't want to be invited to this party. Find out why by visiting the Listen Here! page.
Hey DNC, let's get real, we may be Progressives and union people, but we're not pushovers! Silly us, we totally bought the "Change We Can Believe In" thing and took it at face value! Collectively, we gritted our teeth as we saw each of the President's campaign promises result in legislation that was watered down by something that looked more like capitulation to vested interests than compromise. All we could do was shake our heads when the President didn't put up much of a fight for those promises. We hit the breaking point when certain members of the President's Cabinet, made vulgar and snide remarks about progressives and unions, the core group of Democratic Party supporters. Many of us, myself included have decided to give you a second chance and vote for Democratic candidates in November because we know that electing Republicans or Tea Partiers will result in a total corporate takeover of the USA. What we want from you in return is the realization that you can't fix America's unemployment problems with "green jobs" rhetoric alone, they will not replace the massive hemorrhaging of jobs that "free" trade caused. You have to stop the corporate outsourcing of jobs by keeping one of the President's original campaign promises of eliminating tax breaks for corporations who outsource manufacturing overseas. You have to do whatever it takes to make this happen! Since unionized jobs have helped American families realize the American dream and have been a wage and benefit pacesetter for ALL jobs in the USA, we ask you to support the Employee Free Choice Act and introduce other legislation that empowers unions, working people and the middle class! On behalf of America's senior citizens and future retirees, we ask that you defend Social Security and Medicare and realize that it is what stands between retiring with dignity and retiring in poverty. Working people have paid into the fund for years and expect it to be there for them. Congress and the Senate have treated it as a giant piggy bank to tap when they need funds for things that have nothing to do with Social Security. Don't expect to balance the budget on the backs of seniors and the defenseless! While we're on the subject, the Presidentially appointed "deficit" commission seems to have a decidedly Republican agenda -- WHY? Now onto an issue that you probably hoped I wouldn't raise - HEALTHCARE!! Health care reform was a major campaign promise. You had an opportunity to bring a TRUE world class health care program to the USA, rather than one that cares more about protecting the interests of insurance companies than the health of our citizens. The ONLY way that could have happened was for the legislation to be passed quickly, by a unified Democratic Party that still had a solid majority. That didn't happen, due to bickering Blue Dogs and a White House that was looking for "bipartisan" approval of the Health Care Bill. The Republicans took advantage of your party's lack of a unified message on health care to do what they do best, spread fear, uncertainty and doubt to the American public, thus giving birth to the term "ObamaCare". At this point, I have to give my assessment of the state of the Democratic Party and it's function in our two party system. This is just some very intuitive conjecture, so take it for what it's worth. The Republicans talk a good game about patriotism to get the hearts and minds of working people but that's a smokescreen that hides their pro-corporate agenda. The Democrats always take a we're going to help working people approach while they are campaigning but once elected, return to bi-partisan mode. They have to take a bi-partisan approach out of necessity because unlike the Republicans who unite under the banner of corporatism, the Democrats can't unite under the banner of populism because it's internal structure is inherently bi-partisan. The Democratic Party is composed of Democrats and Mini-Republicans (Blue Dogs), thus making it dysfunctional. Lobbyists infest both parties with the Republicans giving them their complete attention. Yes DNC, as I mentioned previously, we are giving you a second chance, don't blow it or unions and progressives will unite behind a viable third party in 2012! As we approach the mid-term elections, it becomes apparent that many of our elected officials from BOTH parties, have taken a condescending, we know what's best for our constituency approach. The Republicans want voters to forget everything that happened during the eight years of the Bush administration, the greed and the get rich quick schemes that were allowed to run wild in the financial sector. They want voters to forget how they encouraged Americans to run up a credit tab to give the illusion of a middle class lifestyle. They want voters to forget that they ran up a huge deficit. Yeah, it's tough trying to finance an expensive war and give tax breaks to the rich at the same time! You have to make many references to 9/11 in your speeches to keep something like that going!
Bush's party had and has the nerve to blame all of those deficits and everything else on President Obama. They even blamed him for a bailout that started during the Bush administration when, even Bush finally realized that his policies brought us to the brink of financial Armageddon! The Republicans spent almost every minute of President Obama's term trying to derail every bit of meaningful Democratic legislation that came before Congress and the Senate. Never mind that, especially in these economic hard times, America needs meaningful health care reform to protect it's population. Never mind that we have massive unemployment partially because the private sector is fond of outsourcing it's manufacturing and jobs overseas and gets tax breaks to do that. The Republicans back and endorse all that as being part of "free" enterprise! They even had the nerve to try to block unemployment extensions for the casualties of their economic policies! The Tea Partiers talk a good game but are about as populist as the Fortune 500. How can a "grassroots" movement that is purportedly bankrolled by the wealthy, represent the wants and needs of John and Jane Q. Public? Now onto the Democrats who were compromised from within by their blue dogs who were in reality, wannabe Republicans. They just kept on trying for "bipartisan" solutions that hindered their ability to be true agents of change. Translation, someone needed to remind them that they won! Because of that, almost every piece of legislation that would have brought meaningful, indisputable positive change to our country was diluted beyond recognition. If every Democratic legislative initiative was passed as originally written, the results and benefits to the average person would have been indisputable and every Democratic Congressman and Senator would have probably gotten a ticker tape parade in his or her home district instead of having to worry about where each vote is coming from. For the above reasons, plus the massive lobbyist influence in Washington, we didn't get the change that we were promised, we got SMALL CHANGE. Nonetheless, as working people, we have to make the only choice that will preserve what's left of the American dream, we have to vote Democratic and after they are elected, hold them accountable! Some news stories generate so much controversy that we can't see the forest for the trees. Most of the news commentaries about foreign funding of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's political TV advertising turn out to be prime examples of political tunnel vision. Go to the the Listen Here! page to hear the rest of this story and get 20/20 political vision.
As we all know, most Congressmen and Senators get their marching orders from corporate lobbyists and turn a deaf ear to our needs and wants. Many of us feel that they can't be trusted to do the right thing for working people, the middle class and the poor. Our President stood up for us by vetoing a piece of legislation that had a nasty side effect. To hear about it, visit my Listen Here! page.
If you happened to watch most of the network and local TV news coverage of the One Nation March On Washington, you probably noticed several massive distortions of the truth. The most glaring and most prevalent out and out LIE came from several broadcast "journalists" who stated or implied that the One Nation March was hastily done in reaction to the Tea Party rally that was fielded by a certain right wing talk show host one month earlier. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I recall, the One Nation March was announced in early spring (in March, I believe) of 2010, probably planned way earlier. The second major distortion of the truth was the inevitable crowd size comparison between the September march and the One Nation March, there was none because the One Nation March had double the crowd size! Finally, we had to subject ourselves to the glib remarks implying that the the purpose of the march was to shore up support for a Democratic Party that is desperate for help in November. Hello mainstream media, the One Nation March On Washington's purpose was to unite working people, the unemployed, the middle class, the poor and fight for their interests! The march wasn't a mere pep rally for the Democratic Party!
We have a couple of ways to fix sloppy journalism, be it intentional or otherwise. We can call the offending station's news department and demand that the "journalist" in question be given a course in remedial journalism 101 where he or she will be reminded of the meaning of the five W's of journalism. We can call the offending TV stations and tell them that we are going to boycott their sponsors until they clean up their act. While those methods provide immediate personal satisfaction, they only fix a small part of a widespread problem. The only way we can fix the distortions and undue political influence that is rampant in the broadcast media is to contact our electeds and demand that they enact modifications to the Communications Acts. similar to the Fairness Doctrine, etc. that empower the FCC to enforce equal, fair and undistorted broadcast journalism. As a broadcaster, I know that biased and slanted reporting in some segments of the mainstream media can literally change the results of an election by what is said or not said about a person or issue. We're talking about a future of our democracy issue here! If you can distort how you report the news, are Federally licensed to use the airwaves, a natural resource that is owned by every American and on loan to you to be used in the public interest and are big enough to influence enough potential voters, you should be subject to regulatory oversight. We the people can no longer allow you to hijack the truth on behalf of a few corporate interests! Let's help One Nation get it's fair share of media coverage for today's March On Washington DC. Call the TV networks and your local TV stations and ask for the News Department Assignment Desk. Tell them that you want to see lots of coverage of the One Nation March On Washington DC. You might mention that you noticed that they gave last month's Tea Bag March plenty of coverage and that you support today's march!

AuthorHave you noticed that there's no one on Talk Radio who speaks for John and Jane Q. Public? I want to change that situation. When I go into the studio and get on the air, I say the things that you've always wanted to say. The big corporate interests have their lobbyists, I want to be your voice. Just think of me as your guy fighting for your interests. Proud To Be On:Archives
