In case you didn't realize it, our political system is rigged. Due to the strong advantage our electoral system gives the Democratic/Republican duopoly, getting a third party Presidential candidate elected is virtually impossible. Additionally, the massive “support” both parties receive, overtly via direct contributions and covertly via sock puppet organizations from their corporate, Wall Street and banking backers almost guarantees that corporate oligarch contributors will become America's shadow government. I like to say that one party is owned by wealthy oligarchs and the other party is leased by wealthy oligarchs.
Over the past few years, as it became apparent to me that both parties were not listening to us, I was hoping that a national third party movement would capture the hearts and minds of my fellow working, retired and unemployed Americans who were and are fed up with a corporate run government that ignores the will of the people. For various reasons that I don't want to discuss (because I would have to do a lot of unproductive finger pointing) that never materialized. In any event, the only way that a third party candidate for President could win under the current system is by an overwhelming majority. In other words, in 2012, a third party win has the chance of a fart in a hurricane. Yes folks, once again we have no choice but to vote for the lesser of two evils. No, by saying that I'm not selling you out. Since we know that Democratic compromise with the Republicans is really a thinly veiled tip of their hats to their corporate backers, we must adopt a new strategy. In 2012, our goal should not only be to keep Mitt Romney out of the White House, but to fight to get as many Democrats elected as possible. Let's give the Democrats an overwhelmingly clear majority, that can't be vetoed, so they can't use compromising with the Republicans as an excuse for their actions. At that point, any Democrats who pursue what was formerly the Republican agenda will be officially outed as closet Republicans and subject to our wrath. Should that happen, a third party would look good to most Americans and will win.

Photo Courtesy of ellenm1 Face it folks, Wisconsin proves that corporations have been doing a great job of conning the American voter into voting their way. They do so by using sock puppet organizations that buy almost infinite amounts of mainstream media airtime to run their brainwashing propaganda ads. Since the electeds of both parties have castrated the FCC's rules and regs to the point where it doesn't have a Fairness Doctrine and allows a few major corporate players to own most of the broadcast outlets in the USA, and the Supreme Court has ruled that corporate money is “free” speech, we have to use people power to return fairness to our political system. Having come to the realization that the mainstream media, in running deceitful, corporate funded political advertising and selectively reporting news stories, is literally robbing us of any semblance of fairness and honesty in the electoral process, we must take matters into our own hands. When you are confronted with lies, censorship, and half truths from a source of information, you are left with no alternative but to stop using that source of information. I invite you to join me in getting the truth out by locking their lies into that box of deception that we keep in our living rooms. I want each one of you to get on the phone and call your friends, family and business associates. Tell everyone who will listen about the phony corporate funded political ads and distorted reporting that passes for journalism that routinely happens on a mainstream media which promulgates lies to help corporatists thwart the American democratic process. Tell them that those corporate ads are doing their thinking for them and are almost reaching into the voting booth and pulling the handle for them. Tell everyone that you know that the only way that we are going to get a fair election this year is for them to rely on social media and alternative broadcast media for election 2012 information and for them to TURN OFF, TUNE OUT AND IGNORE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA! Use these handy-dandy buttons to start getting the word out: I have an important bit of information to get to you now, so I'll be putting up more about Buy Strikes and actions that we can take without waiting for 2012 in the next post.
The Republicans may not realize it, but they just tipped their hand and let us have a look at their 2012 Presidential campaign strategy! During the last Republican debate, amid all their usual nonsense and stupidity, several Republican Presidential "hopefuls" debated the issue of U.S. trade imbalances with China. What became clear is that believe it or not, the Republicans are going to use China and "free" trade as the magic carpet that they hope will give them a repeat of 2010 and possibly put a Republican in the White House. If my instincts are right about what I saw in that debate, the Republican candidate for President and, for that matter, the Republican party will conveniently forget about their history of supporting "free" trade and sacrificing America's manufacturing infrastructure and American jobs on the altar of Globalization. They will start to endorse slapping trade tariffs on Chinese imports, forgetting that their idol, Ronald Reagan reduced and eliminated a number of those tariffs. They will finally admit that America's vast trade imbalance with China is one of the main causes of our current high level of unemployment. Now hear me out because the best is yet to come. They will position themselves as the patriots who will bring manufacturing back to the USA by doing what, in reality they hate the most, passing regulations and trade tariffs that will force corporations to manufacture here. Middle America, with the aid of some brainwashing campaign ads could fall for the conjured up image of Republicans as defenders of working people. If you think that the above scenario is far-fetched, think about how teabagers were stirred up by corporate interests and pushed the Republican agenda over to the far right in 2010 or how their propaganda got many people so stirred up that the President caved under its pressure and watered down the healthcare bill to something that still leaves 50 million people without healthcare. The main reason that the Republicans could get away with billing themselves as populist fighters for the bottom 99 %, protecting American jobs from offshoring to China is because President Obama, who just signed three job killing "free" trade agreements, followed in the tradition of Bill Clinton who violated a campaign pledge and gave China Most Favored Nation trading status . Who knew that supposedly pro-union Democrats could betray working people like that? The Republicans, that's who! Apologists for Obama and the Democrats like to blame the 2010 loss of Congressional seats on a low Progressive turnout at the polls because the Opologists are in blissful state of denial! They couldn't understand that every time Obama and the Democrats compromised (caved) on issues that were essential to the bottom 99%, they were blurring the line that differentiated them from the Republicans! THAT'S the reason for 2010 and THAT'S why they could be vulnerable to a Republican faux populist anti job offshoring propaganda campaign in 2012. Obama apologists are fond of saying that anyone who votes in 2012 for a progressive third party Presidential candidate instead of Obama is helping to put a Republican in the White House. If the Republicans use the aforementioned faux anti job offshoring strategy, our support of a third party progressive candidate might be the only way to keep a Republican out of the White House, not the other way around as the Obama apologists would have you believe! One of my favorite old sayings is “Anything worth having is worth fighting for.” In my book, that goes double when it comes to things like America's manufacturing infrastructure, decent paying jobs, America's social safety nets and most of all, fair representation of the bottom 98% in Washington! When we elected President Obama in 2008, I was under the impression that he would fight for OUR interests, guess I was wrong. Apparently, politics being what it is, he has other priorities like looking out for the interests of wealthy campaign supporters, something he has in common with his Republican compatriots.
Within weeks of the President's taking office, many of us began to see disturbing signs that he used us to get into office and was starting to turn his back on us. One disturbing sign was when he stated that “he's everyone's President, not just the President of those who voted for him.” Well everyone encompasses people like teabaggers and Republicans who hold views that are irreconcilable with Obama's campaign promises and his Madison Avenue slogan of “Change We Can Believe In.” While it is true that any president is “everyone's President”, that doesn't mean that he has to embrace or even consider things that are repugnant to the very working people who put him in office or differ from his own stated campaign platform. In this case, being “everyone's President" says “thanks for your vote, I owe you nothing, now get lost” to working people and Progressives. As the months passed, the President made it clear that he was NOT going to fight for the things that we consider important:
I could go on for pages but I won't. What I will say is that this kind of compromise is almost as toxic to working people as the Republican/Tea Party agenda. As a matter of fact it's downright insideous because supporting the President in 2012 keeps us from electing someone who can and will actually help working people. Many of the President's current die hard supporters are on various social media acting as the unofficial Democratic truth police by scaring people with the old “lesser of two evils” baloney. If you run into one of those clowns, please tell them that they will only be able to see the truth if the stop burying their heads in the President's rear end. We need to elect a truly worthy candidate in 2012, someone like Bernie Sanders. Congratulations, you can now consider yourself aware and awakened! Now that the 2008 Obama campaign's promise of change that became the politics of compromise is on its way to becoming the shame of capitulation, many of us “we told you so” people are still being harangued by the cult known as the O-pologists! These people hang out on various social media waiting to swoop down and try to stifle the free speech of anyone who expresses anything that differs from their constant droning, unconditional worship of the President. They take exception to ANYONE who dares to say that Obama has become the President of compromise rather than of change or that he is not acting in the best interests of working people, the retired and the poor.
One of their favorite rants is that “you progressives stayed home in 2010 and let the Republicans win in many places” which gave the Republicans the edge. Personally, I didn't stay home, I let myself get suckered into the same old lesser of two evils ploy and reluctantly voted along party lines, knowing that Obama and a party made dysfunctional by it's Blue Dogs didn't deliver on many of his and its campaign promises. Those who decided to stay home, even after I urged them on the air to get out and vote did so because they felt betrayed. I could understand that because I also felt betrayed! Many of the reasons why lots of us felt betrayed are found in numerous articles on this website, so I won't go into them here. O-pologists, let's get one thing straight, the people who didn't vote stayed home because they felt that they had to choose between toxic Republicans and compromising Democrats who are Republican enablers. They didn't cause the problems we have today, the President's failure to fight for the middle class, working people, seniors and the poor caused the voter apathy. Let's give All Americans a reason to get out and vote in 2012 by giving them someone worth electing from a party that truly represents working people, a Labor Party. We must support its candidate with the same zeal that we supported President Obama in 2008! Hey, I wonder if Bernie Sanders is available? |
AuthorHave you noticed that there's no one on Talk Radio who speaks for John and Jane Q. Public? I want to change that situation. When I go into the studio and get on the air, I say the things that you've always wanted to say. The big corporate interests have their lobbyists, I want to be your voice. Just think of me as your guy fighting for your interests. Proud To Be On:Archives
