I was thinking about how the union movement has fared over the past 30 years and had to write this short article. Let me remind my fellow union members that the road to extinction was paved with a series of "small" compromises! There is no such thing as a small compromise when it comes to any issue that could weaken the union protections and contractual benefits of new members. When you establish things like a dual seniority system or negotiate dual wage scales for new employees as a concession in exchange for your company letting senior employees keep their present benefits, you set up a caste system within your union and create resentment among younger members. After 30 years of such compromises, we've just about compromised ourselves out of existence.
The self-serving corporate interests that have been plotting our undoing for years have stepped up their attacks via their usual route of owned politicians. They are going after the meat and potatoes items that allow unions to exist, things like collective bargaining. Unions have to take a no compromise stance from now on if we are to survive. Unions have to let future members know that they are represented by people who are fully prepared to fight for each member's rights with the very same strength, courage and determination that enabled labor's founding fathers to form unions in the first place. Wisconsin has awakened the union rank and file, union leadership now has a clear mandate to do what needs to be done! To quote my favorite union song, “Which Side Are You On?”

To a Republican or Teabagger, the next best thing to getting a corporation to run for office is to get a CEO or former CEO to throw his or her hat in the ring. To find out why many voters in the states that elected CEO Governors are now having voter's remorse, visit my Listen Here! page.
If you still have a job, you're probably noticing that you haven't had a pay raise in a long time. The price of almost everything that we need for everyday life has jumped up like crazy, making life a struggle to survive for working families and people on a fixed income.
Corporations are lucky in that they can give themselves unlimited pay raises by raising the prices of the products they manufacture or sell. When bloodsucking commodities speculators raise the price of gas, coffee, many foods or for that matter, anything by even a small amount, America's corporations take that as a signal to raise their prices by large amounts. Good old "free" enterprise works wonders to help line the already bulging pockets of the top 2% wealthiest Americans at the expense of working Americans, people on a fixed income and the ever growing poor that now includes many former members of the middle class. Each and every price increase is taken out of the hides of the bottom 98%. Let's see, stagnant or non existent incomes, prices that seem to rise logarithmically overnight and indifferent electeds who, at best just pay lip service to the problems of the bottom 98% while they cater to the needs of the top 2% is a sure fire recipe for trouble. Many of the great politicians of the past realized that and knew that extreme capitalism can be as dangerous as any other system. Even President Nixon instituted wage and price controls at one point. My message to our electeds is that they had better kick the high priced corporate lobbyists out of their offices and start listening to "We The People", represented by America's unions before it's too late! I want to direct your attention over to a website that is attempting to provide a pro-union alternative to the Tea Party, The We Party Patriots. They created an pro-union alternative to the Tea Party, something that I wanted to do for the longest time. I fully support their efforts! They are not corporate backed and not astroturfed. We're talking about the real deal for those of us who work for a living and are not part of the top 2%. They have an awesome motto - Don't Drink The Tea. Think With The We.
I have also put them in the LINKS section of this website that is located under the MORE top level menu. There is an enemy of our country who poses a serious threat to America's future and to the well being of every family in America! Visit the Wade Radio Theater in the Feature Articles section to hear this special radio production! Your Typical teabagger just loves to complain about "those overpaid government employees". He thinks that unions and union members are making too much money and have those cushy benefits. The real reason for all of his noise is JEALOUSY! I have a few choice words for him that you can hear by visiting my Listen Here! page. |
AuthorHave you noticed that there's no one on Talk Radio who speaks for John and Jane Q. Public? I want to change that situation. When I go into the studio and get on the air, I say the things that you've always wanted to say. The big corporate interests have their lobbyists, I want to be your voice.
